Wi-Fi QR codes for guests
A Wi-Fi QR code lets guests join your network by pointing their camera at it, without typing the password. Recent iPhones and Android phones read these codes directly from the camera app.
Make one
- On the generator, choose Wi-Fi network.
- Enter the network name exactly as it appears, including capitals.
- Enter the password and the security type (WPA covers WPA2 and WPA3 personal networks).
- Download and print it.
Keep it secure
Anyone who can see the code can join the network, and apps can read the password from it. Use a separate guest network for visitors, do not put the code where passers-by can photograph it, and if you change the password, print a new code.
Troubleshooting
- The phone joins but has no internet: check the router, not the code.
- "Incorrect password": check the network name and password for typos, including trailing spaces.
- Nothing happens: make sure the camera app has QR scanning turned on, or use the phone's built-in scanner.
